Open Letter

Murilo Jambeiro de Oliveira

Brasil, 2 de outubro de 2025.

On the occasion described in the email below, I sent something like $200 through the International Dominican Sisters of Rome to help Palestinian families in Bethlehem, and in return received four or five olive wood rosaries made by a Palestinian Christian family in Bethlehem. This letter was published both on the International Dominican Sisters of Rome website and elsewhere on the United Nations website.

I kept one rosary and gave one to each of my loved ones, especially my grandmother Maria de Nazareth Coelho Antunes de Oliveira, who collected rosaries like me—not only collected them, but prayed them daily. And she asked me, upon her death, to collect the rosary I gave her from her home and place it in her hand before her burial. Embarrassed to go to his house to look for his death, he tells his story on this blog CoexistenceLaw.Org in the post “Sol Invictus” ( https://coexistencelaw.org/?p=961 ), I leave in his hand my own olive wood rosary made by the Palestinian Christian families of Bethlehem.

Below, I reproduce the letter of acknowledgement of the receipt of the rosaries, with the testimony requested by Sister Patrizia, with permission for publication.

Sorry for my delay answer… Thanks indeed for your testimony, we are
going to publish it in our website next week.

Let me know when you receive the rosaries…

Palestinian Solidarity Project

Testimony from Brazil – 07 Nov, 2007

Murilo Jambeiro de Oliveira (university student from Brazil)

We, brasilian christians, by the  Dominican Sisters International,
express our solidarity with all brothers and sisters from Palestina.

Here, in the biggest Catholic country of the world, we are blessed by
God, we do not know how is like to live in a place in war. The peace is
always in our land with brothers and sister of all religion.

We received rosaries of olive wood in Brazil, made by palestinias
families, as thanks for our solidarity with the palestinians. Like the
dove  brought a olive leaf to Noah, the rosaries sent by the Dominican
Sisters International brought us hope.

Hope of find soon a diferent Holy Land, where the faith of each family
bring to their home solidarity and love. To us in Brazil, the rosaries
means that, solidarity among all christians brothers and sisters of the
world and  love to each other no mather the religion.

I wish that the “olive leafs” brought by Dominicans make all the
brasilian christians “plant” the peace in Holy Land, and God give to
ours brothers and sisters what he promess to Noah after dificult times.

“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat,
and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” (Genesis
8:22)
