When I was told that the Associated Press is the one who totals the votes in the North American presidential elections, it struck me as curious, but it didn’t surprise me when we know that what sustains many things in the world are simple knightly agreements that follow some clearer principle. And that’s what makes this 1 year of War in Ukraine a vote count in the United Nations the definition of a huge part of the world on the one hand contrary to Russia, a clearer principle like the Charter of the United Nations. By definition, the humanitarian proposal is for an unconditional ceasefire on both sides, which seems to me to have been proposed by Brazil. But what moves the tip of the balance to one side, which is sometimes the unsolvable issue, are in fact principles that astonish us by their relevance in the reiteration of cases.
My central sociological concern in the recent period is to prevent Western societies from exploding from within. I must always have pragmatic concerns about the specific Brazilian case, but there are common concerns among all. The cases of Capitólio and Brasília are a given, but that armed Brazilians start shooting at each other much earlier is another. That the Monarchy like the English grant cohesion and the German quite the contrary is another. But at the root of the question are several common concerns, even when I romanticize any affective difficulty that obscures our relations and pray for France. Recently both Israel and Mexico have reviewed the role of their Constitutional Courts.
The final calculation is that although certain international conflicts between National States of the West and the East are evident, where I even believe that the role of Brazil is quite important and even comfortable insofar as it can be a little distant from the most pressing issues, or preserve some neutrality, is not free from this internal demand that causes unbearable pressures for all the institutional engineering of the National States in general, and why not to say of the sociology of customs.
