I really like this English joke ( Preakness Stakes 2025 – https://coexistencelaw.org/?p=1818 ), because for those who watch Globo a lot, they come to the conclusion that journalism is good, but American Promise always wins the day. Right now, it’s inevitable, but what we know about French, German, or even Chinese political parties, for example, is residual. It never gets across in adequate proportions under normal conditions of temperature and pressure. And in general, there’s really little journalism on Brazilian television. I mention Globo because it has the largest and most qualified journalism structure, perhaps the so-called “Press Consortium” that emerged during the pandemic. But the borders, if it weren’t for the madness today, would seem just as borders of madness.

I believe this is part of what I say about cultural affinities, regardless of the news content. For an average Brazilian journalist, it’s obvious to know and consume news in English, as it is for me too. If there’s a second language, it’s English. The point is, the reflection is never invalid, regarding cultural hegemony, for example, due to language in the world. The cultural hegemony of the Americas is still very strong.

It’s even worth reflecting on a very old article of mine on “Cultural Hegemony” because it’s a constant in my thinking, as pragmatic as possible. Obviously, today isn’t the best day to reject the discussion in the terms I mentioned earlier, but it’s a concern I’ve had for so long, back when the girls I lived with were literate and well-liked. For example, you have an event on January 6th in the United States, which occurs on January 8th in Brazil, on a much larger scale, due to what kind of unexplained phenomenon? Friendship with Steve Bannon? Not exactly, or not exclusively. I already said this to Julia Duailibi, who is off today, that sometimes this is in the front of a Chevrolet that makes up a chicken coop, or in a Mata-Mato habit, as they call the agrochemicals, which is as observable as the American podcast that guides, for example, a certain discussion.

The limit of my despair was that I had booked a week’s vacation in Rio, and that day all the truck drivers in the country were on strike. Eu gosto muito dessa piada de Inglês ( Preakness Stakes 2025 – https://coexistencelaw.org/?p=1818 ), porque para quem assiste muito a Globo, chega a conclusão que Jornalismo tem, mas American Promisse vence sempre a prova. Nesse momento é inevitável, mas por exemplo é residual o que sabemos sobre partidos franceses, alemães, ou mesmo a China. Não passa numa proporção adequada em condições normais de temperatura e pressão jamais. E no geral há mesmo pouco Jornalismo na tv brasileira, eu falo da Globo porque é que tem a maior e mais qualificada estrutura de Jornalismo, talvez o chamado “Consórcio de Imprensa” que surge na pandemia. Mas as raias, se não fosse hoje a loucura, pareceriam da mesma forma raias da loucura.

Acredito até que é um pouco do que eu digo sobre afinidades culturais, independente do conteúdo das notícias, para um jornalista médio brasileiro é evidente saber e consumir notícias em inglês, como é para mim também, se há um segundo idioma é o inglês. A questão é, a reflexão que nunca é invalida, quanto a hegemonia cultural, por exemplo em virtude do idioma no mundo. Ainda é muito grande a hegemonia cultural da América.

Até vale pensar com um artigo muito antigo meu sobre “Hegemonia Cultural” porque é uma constante do meu pensamento, o mais pragmatico possível. Evidente que hoje não é o melhor dia para recusar a discussão nos termos que disse anteriormente, mas é uma preocupação tão antiga minha, quando eram letradas e queridas as meninas com quem convivia. Você tem por exemplo um evento no 6 janeiro dos Estados Unidos, que ocorre num 8 de janeiro no Brasil, numa proporção muito maior, por qual espécie de fenômeno não bem explicado? Amizade com Steve Bannon? Não exatamente, ou não apenas. Eu já disse isso para Julia Duailibi que hoje está de folga, que as vezes isso está numa frente de Chevrolet que compõe um galinheiro, ou num habito de Mata-Mato, como chamam o agrotóxico, que é tão observável quanto o podcast Americano que pauta por exemplo uma determinada discussão.

O limite do meu desespero era eu ter marcado uma semana de férias no Rio, e naquele dia anterior todos os caminhoneiros do país estavam parados, vamos lembrar o que aconteceu com Hoffa essa hora da punição dos culpados, para a gente não dizer que tudo é absurdo. Mas seria ainda pior nos termos exatos da minha revolta contra não conseguir pegar um onibus para o Rio meses antes “Desordem e Atraso”. (Desordem e Atraso – https://coexistencelaw.org/?p=565 )

O Irlândes, vocês procurem por aí. Acho que esse tem inteiro no youtube, é mais antigo e eu adoro. Mas eu que moro na beira da estrada, as vezes tenho que sentar e pensar “cadê o seu sorriso”.
