Nothing from Anyone: One More Day

Nothing from Anyone: One More Day

Frankly, my feeling about President Donald Trump’s statements is that there is no reconciliation between Israel’s desire to annex the Gaza Strip, and it is not absurd in this case for Israel to annex the Gaza Strip if we talk about ethnic cleansing, and on the other hand, the evident need for someone to invest in the reconstruction of the completely destroyed Gaza Strip, a third actor, as for example, it is suggested, although without an answer so far, that Saudi Arabia will do so. Commentators try to expose the complications, such as internal political issues in Israel, in my view a weakening of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Cabinet, and on the other hand, a very difficult discussion also that is to credit to whom the Palestinian political leadership. And in my personal opinion, there is indeed a need to discuss who will rebuild the Gaza Strip, before Israel starts talking more than it already does about it, with greater hostility in the West Bank and with the Palestinian Authority. President Donald Trump is already talking about “it’s over” in an absurd way.

In other words, what President Donald Trump is creating is an expectation that his most radical or absurd statements: never meaning exactly what he said, but calling for a response of a better middle-ground proposal put forward by the other party, in this case Saudi Arabia, for example. We don’t know if that’s exactly what it is, we fear misused terms like “cleansing”. Something that causes deep disbelief and horror. The Brazilian government reacts to the use of such an expression, as was to be expected, and the press interprets it very badly. The logical assumption is that it is an ally of Prime Minister Netanyahu, speaking about Prime Minister Netanyahu apparently does. My interpretation is neither precise nor logical. My interpretation is that Prime Minister Netanyahu intends to commit the so-called ethnic cleansing and annexation, while the United States of America, although not very obvious, is another actor. In truth, everything has apparently been destroyed by Israel. People have nothing to eat, no medicine, no schools, and no homes. The first question is, who will bear the cost of the reconstruction.

As you can see, it is not a good idea that this third actor to carry out the reconstruction is the United States of America. It seems like more of the same, that is, ethnic cleansing and annexation, despite its historical proximity to Israel, but being willing to rebuild is still a call for a next phase of ceasefire. It is also not sensible to believe that there should be any confusion with Egypt and Jordan, countries with effective peace and cooperation agreements with Israel and the United States of America, which, like Jordan, are already under social pressure from a population that is 60% Palestinian. The coexistence of Egypt and Jordan is eminently peaceful, and it is a mistake to believe that they do not have to pay any bills. So much so that, in my opinion, I repeat, the only possible assumption so far is to imagine that President Donald Trump is at least suggesting a longer-lasting ceasefire, looking to the next day, if absurd as it seems to us so far, if in a way of doing politics he asks for more, then he compromises with what he wants, as some already believe is his policy in all cases, what we certainly have is this, the ceasefire is beginning to be considered – another day. And amidst the disbelief and horror at President Donald Trump’s statements, in the case of reconstruction, we have to ask – whose bill is it?
