Many say that Brazil is the country of ready-made jokes, and in some sense I tend to agree with that. Perhaps in the sense that a great national funk hit sometimes takes a year or two to reach me, but occasionally it seems like a ready-made joke, like “Acorda Pedrinho” by the band Jovem Dionísio, on the occasion of the Spanish elections today.
Jokes are not always convenient, I am one of those who believe that jokes, even or especially among elites, alienate us from central issues that must be faced seriously, as they can or seem to support this or that, which is not my intention here.
My intention here is to weave together a series of longer considerations that I make in this Blog about current society, without focusing specifically on the Spanish example, or any circumstantial partisanship here or elsewhere. For example, the growing fragmentation of all Western societies that I know of due to the irreversible arrangement of individual communication devices that are mobile for each individual, which separates even couples in the same house, and devastates Nation States like never before.
At the same time that these Nation States can see themselves diluted in a growing movement towards formation of blocs, there is an enormous internal fragmentation, and this is a very big challenge for Social Sciences.
The computer does not go backwards, and it is not data from a player, although it must be taken into account by each one of them.
Within these two perspectives, a perhaps growing movement of Nation States forming blocks of consensus among themselves, and the growing fragmentation of the most elementary human groups, that is, as I insist, groups of two individuals, of a certainly gregarious being. In the meantime, we have Social Science elaborations that are still too fragile to manage the speed of Computer Science propositions. And as a result, we have a rapidly more violent society.
The risk that exists is really the very rapid escalation of the “violence of all against all”. That become more and more evident all over the world, increasingly fragile consensuses, from its smallest and most traditional cell that is the family, to the National States.
What happened recently in Brazil, with the complete devastation of that square that represents the three powers of the Brazilian State, is not an isolated phenomenon and does not deserve everyone’s study. This impetus to devastate squares affects humanity as never before, in the absence of minimum consensus. It is absolutely necessary that Social Sciences catch up with Computer Sciences in time. At risk, as I said, of a “war of all against all”.
There is a false appearance of a nascent society of love, but this is certainly not what is happening, nor does it even appear to us as the probability of the facts. Between Chimpanzee and Bonobo that I suggest in this Blog, there is a common feeling of neglect between grape and cucumber. Everything you can fantasize about is an illusion of an incredibly loving future society, where in fact, loving are our intellectuals here trying at very high costs to find some solution for that. There is no society of love in the making today.
Assuming the human being as a “gregarious being” means assuming that loving beings capable of observing and explaining the regularity of these phenomena to others are in fact necessary. Information technology policies increasingly aimed at the common good of local communities, is something that I, like all of humanity, are still rehearsing as a healthy accumulation of Social Sciences to manage advances in Computer Science.
The completely adverse fragmentation of communication in the same house does not seem healthy so far. If you implode a house, you implode a building, you implode a square, or a parliament. It’s something like looking at a sick cell, and seeing the whole organism on TV, observing increasingly dysfunctional organisms around the world, or with growing difficulties in the governance of several National States.
Social cohesion has historically tended towards the lowest, and is rapidly going downhill. In an increasingly widespread way across all squares on planet Earth. We need propositions and practices that solidify some capable social cohesion paradigm. Although certainly not the same, or better said, even though we need time with the same until we are perfectly aware of when we need to reinvest in sociability with the next, really close physically.
One day I said to Greta Thunberg, even though ecology in my point of view imposes optimization, I come from the assumption that yes, it does, the logistics of the fact are absolutely complex for me, like her own fear of flying. Humanity no longer cares for traditional fences, even if the communicational fence is immense, the subtraction that global consumption chains propose or even the illusion of ample availability of varieties from all over the Earth, it cannot answer the question of how lawyers will live well with each other in Belgium, or politicians with each other in Switzerland.
Even though in Brazil we already have a Jovem Dionísio joke ready for maybe two years in my accounts, for today’s Spanish elections!
