Quando ingresso em 2003 no primeiro ano do Governo Lula no curso de Ci\u00eancias Sociais da Pontif\u00edcia Universidade Cat\u00f3lica, havia uma gest\u00e3o Centro Acad\u00eamico de Ci\u00eancias Sociais de reuni\u00e3o de diversas correntes do Partido dos Trabalhadores chamada &#8220;Mutir\u00e3o&#8221;, um termo muito usado hoje na COP30. Ocorre que um ativista, assassinado no Vale do Para\u00edba, decide organizar festas dentro do Campus. Literalmente festas de &#8220;Mutir\u00e3o&#8221; no P\u00e1tio da Cruz. Onde os alunos iam durante o m\u00eas levando cerveja em suas mochilas para serem estocadas no Centros Acad\u00eamicos todos at\u00e9 a tampa, at\u00e9 sexta no intervalo da aula, quando no P\u00e1tio da Cruz se colocava um microfone e um amplificador, come\u00e7avam os discursos pol\u00edticos, enquanto eram montadas as piscinas infl\u00e1veis para o grande momento onde come\u00e7ava a festa. A brigada do gelo entrava com duas duzias de militantes com o carregamento de gelo, do caminh\u00e3o que estacionava l\u00e1 na esquina da Monte Alegre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nessa \u00e9poca, eu j\u00e1 fazia discursos memor\u00e1veis, e mais que isso, fui acolhido pelos dez Centros Acad\u00eamicos da PUC-SP como membro do Conselho de Centros Acad\u00eamicos, uma inst\u00e2ncia informal, que reuni\u00e3o todos os Centros Acad\u00eamicos com um voto para cada, que dependia de se reunir desde que qualquer das dez gest\u00f5es protocolasse em todos os outros Centros Acad\u00eamicos uma convocat\u00f3ria com recibo. Eu me apeguei a esse fato, at\u00e9 o dia que estou na companhia de meu amigo Meirelles do BC e Noam Chomsky da Hustler, e eles dizem: &#8220;Murilo, invadiram a reitoria!&#8221; Isso era primeiro semestre de 2004, talvez maio, v\u00e9spera dos 40 anos do Golpe Militar no Brasil em 1964, e eu s\u00f3 sabia dizer: &#8220;Mas \u00e9 um absurdo, n\u00e3o foi discutido em nenhuma inst\u00e2ncia, eu participo de todas!&#8221; E um Meirelles diz: &#8220;Murilo, n\u00e3o que j\u00e1 aconteceu, est\u00e1 acontecendo isso agora!&#8221; Os Trotskistas, fundados numa sindic\u00e2ncia que fundava na festa, mas na pr\u00e1tica expulsava da Universidade 15 bolsistas com ativismo politico de extrema esquerda, e n\u00e3o os respons\u00e1veis pelas tais festas, chutaram a porta de Antonio Carlos Ronca, da Articula\u00e7\u00e3o do PT de Jos\u00e9 Dirceu, que estava a 15 anos no poder, e tomaram posse da Reitoria. Estando eu com o BC e a Hustler, falei, tudo bem, vamos para l\u00e1 agora!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>E eu comecei um processo, no Conselho de Centros Acad\u00eamicos que eu passei a presidir, os dez Centros Acad\u00eamicos da Monte Alegre, para resumir a hist\u00f3ria e explicar a moral dela para COP30 hoje, de primeiro reconhecer que havia uma quest\u00e3o entre Alunado e Reitoria, consolidada em vota\u00e7\u00e3o, e atas assinadas e carimbadas, e expostas no mesmo dia em A3 em todas as portas da Universidade. At\u00e9, um determinado dia, que o Conselho de Centros Acad\u00eamicos se re\u00fane antes da Assembleia Geral dos Estudantes, no CA 22 de Agosto, e decide encaminhar a desocupa\u00e7\u00e3o. Eu n\u00e3o presidia aquele Assembleia Geral, que um jornalista decidiu usar a camiseta do MST, enquanto os Cubanos usavam ternos, eu estava com uma camiseta cinza lisa, jeans azul novo, e t\u00eanis, na \u00e9poca n\u00e3o era muito comum eu usar t\u00eanis, porque o P\u00e1tio da Cruz, pertencer ao P\u00e1tio da Cruz entre todos do Pr\u00e9dio Bandeira de Mello chamava-se &#8220;ser p\u00e9 sujo&#8221;. Mas como aquilo vai tomando ares de pandem\u00f4nio, e de manh\u00e3 Beatriz Adura da psicologia tinha conseguido conduzir aquilo magistralmente tendo votado, e conclu\u00eddo pela maioria da Assembleia Geral da manh\u00e3 decidir por desocupar como encaminhava o Conselho de Centros Acad\u00eamicos da noite, eu assumo a condu\u00e7\u00e3o daquela tal Assembleia Geral para pedir paz enquanto come\u00e7\u00e1vamos a nos dar conta de cair pedra de m\u00e1rmore dos banheiros sobre a multid\u00e3o, e escuto um bode velho dizer, em mais 15 minutos vamos tacar fogo na Reitoria. Eu n\u00e3o pensei duas vezes na Presid\u00eancia dos trabalhos da Assembleia Geral e por encaminhamento do Conselho de Centros Acad\u00eamicos, eu decreto fim daquela ocupa\u00e7\u00e3o naquele instante, o que para meu assombro foi acatado por todos, e imediatamente guarnecida a sede da Reitoria por quem estava na quadra. E eu marquei do o Sindicato dos Professores para no dia seguinte pela manh\u00e3, fazer a entrega formal da sede com conferencia de todos seu patrimonio, com a subsequente nova reuni\u00e3o do alunado no TUCA no dia seguinte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Qual \u00e9 a moral da hist\u00f3ria da COP30 e s\u00f3 por isso conto isso? Deve na realidade hoje e amanh\u00e3, afirmar toda a principiologia do Aquecimento Global mais correta e consensual, porque todo o resto decorre disso. Temos in\u00fameras quest\u00f5es, por exemplo, o agroneg\u00f3cio brasileiro depende muito de Swap Cambial, quest\u00f5es do tipo, muito interessante entre tudo que pode decorrer de fundos de um adequado documento com toda a principiologia para tanto bem afirmada, at\u00e9 a elimina\u00e7\u00e3o de combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis. Ah, e detalhe, e a \u00fanica desocupa\u00e7\u00e3o de Sede de Reitoria da PUC-SP que eu conhe\u00e7o que n\u00e3o precisou de desfor\u00e7o policial contra o alunado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EN-US<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How to Put Out a Fire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Murilo Jambeiro de Oliveira<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brazil, November 19, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My activism in the Student Movement literally taught me how to put out a fire at the Catholic University of S\u00e3o Paulo&#8217;s theater. When I entered the Social Sciences course at the Pontifical Catholic University in 2003, during the first year of Lula&#8217;s government, there was a Social Sciences Academic Center that brought together various factions of the Workers&#8217; Party called &#8220;Mutir\u00e3o,&#8221; a term widely used today at COP30. It so happened that an activist, murdered in the Para\u00edba Valley, decided to organize parties on campus. Literally &#8220;Mutir\u00e3o&#8221; parties in the Courtyard of the Cross. Throughout the month, students would bring beer in their backpacks to be stocked up at the Student Unions until Friday during the break between classes. Then, a microphone and amplifier would be set up in the P\u00e1tio da Cruz, and the political speeches would begin, while inflatable pools were being assembled for the big moment when the party started. The &#8220;ice brigade&#8221; would arrive with two dozen activists carrying a load of ice from a truck parked on the corner of Monte Alegre Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At that time, I was already giving memorable speeches, and more than that, I was welcomed by all ten Student Unions of PUC-SP as a member of the Council of Student Unions, an informal body that brought together all the Student Unions with one vote each. Meetings were contingent on any of the ten administrations submitting a formal notice with receipt to all the other Student Unions. I clung to that fact until the day I was with my friend Meirelles from the Central Bank and Noam Chomsky from Hustler, and they said: &#8220;Murilo, they invaded the rector&#8217;s office!&#8221; This was the first semester of 2004, maybe May, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the 1964 military coup in Brazil, and all I could say was: &#8220;But it&#8217;s absurd, it wasn&#8217;t discussed in any instance, I participate in all of them!&#8221; And Meirelles said: &#8220;Murilo, it&#8217;s not that it already happened, it&#8217;s happening now!&#8221; The Trotskyists, founded on an investigation that was based on the party, but in practice expelled 15 scholarship students with far-left political activism from the University, and not those responsible for the parties, kicked down the door of Antonio Carlos Ronca, from Jos\u00e9 Dirceu&#8217;s PT Articulation, who had been in power for 15 years, and took over the rector&#8217;s office. Being with the Central Bank and Hustler, I said, okay, let&#8217;s go there now! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I started a process, in the Council of Academic Centers that I came to preside over, the ten Academic Centers of Monte Alegre, to summarize the story and explain its moral for COP30 today, first recognizing that there was an issue between the students and the Rectorate, consolidated in a vote, and minutes signed and stamped, and displayed on the same day in A3 format on all the doors of the University. Until, one day, the Council of Academic Centers met before the General Assembly of Students, at CA 22 de Agosto, and decided to proceed with the eviction. I wasn&#8217;t presiding over that General Assembly, where a journalist decided to wear an MST t-shirt, while the Cubans wore suits, I was wearing a plain gray t-shirt, new blue jeans, and sneakers, at the time it wasn&#8217;t very common for me to wear sneakers, because belonging to the P\u00e1tio da Cruz, among all those in the Bandeira de Mello Building, was called &#8220;being a low-class person&#8221;. But as things began to turn into pandemonium, and in the morning Beatriz Adura from psychology had masterfully managed the situation, having voted and concluded by majority vote of the morning General Assembly to decide to vacate, as directed by the Council of Academic Centers in the evening, I took over the leadership of that General Assembly to plead for peace while we began to realize that marble slabs were falling from the bathrooms onto the crowd, and I heard an old goat say, &#8220;In another 15 minutes we&#8217;re going to set fire to the Rectorate.&#8221; I didn&#8217;t think twice about presiding over the General Assembly and, following the direction of the Council of Academic Centers, I decreed the end of that occupation at that moment, which, to my astonishment, was accepted by everyone, and the Rectorate headquarters was immediately secured by those who were in the courtyard. And I scheduled the Teachers&#8217; Union for the next morning to formally hand over the headquarters, with an inventory of all its assets, followed by a new student meeting at TUCA the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is the moral of the COP30 story, and is that why I&#8217;m mentioning it? It should, in reality, affirm all the principles of Global Warming today and tomorrow, but correctly and consensually, because everything else stems from that. We have numerous issues, for example, Brazilian agribusiness is very dependent on currency swaps, issues of that type, very interesting among everything that can result from a proper document with all the necessary principles well affirmed, even the elimination of fossil fuels.
